Watch the 2013 Biddle Lecture

The Anthony Joseph Drexel Biddle, Jr. Lecture in International Studies was established to honor Mary Duke Biddle Semans’ father, who had a distinguished career as a diplomat in the service of the United States and was an original signer of The Duke Endowment.

The Lecture symbolizes Duke University’s continuing commitment to promoting international understanding.

Donna Hrinak is Country President for Brazil for The Boeing Company. She came to Boeing after five years in the food and beverage industry, as Senior Director for Corporate Affairs at Kraft Foods and Vice President for Public Policy at PepsiCo. Before entering the private sector in 2004, Hrinak was a career officer in the U.S. Foreign Service. She served as Ambassador in Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia and the Dominican Republic, and as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Mexico and the Caribbean.

Nancy Hare Robbins is the Assistant Director for Outreach and Fellowship at the Duke University Center for International Studies.
