Duke University Center for International Studies/Globalization & the Artist present: Poet and translator Jane Hirschfield. Hirshfield’s poetry volumes include “After”, “Given Sugar, Given Salt” and “The Lives of the Heart”. Her translations include “The Ink Dark Moon: Poems by Ono no Kamachi and Izumi Shikibu, Women of the Ancient Court of Japan” with Ariko Aratani and “Women in Praise of the Sacred: Forty-Three Centuries of Spiritual Poetry by Women”. She has received fellowships from the Guggenheim and Rockefeller foundations and taught at UC Berkeley, the University of San Francisco, and other schools. The conversation is part of Hirshfield’s visit to Duke. Hirshfield will give a poetry reading on Wednesday, October 22 at 7 pm in the Von Canon B at the Bryan Center on Duke’s West Campus. Lunch will be provided. Parking is available in the Medical Center Parking Decks. Coupons are available from DUCIS/GATA
